  Join us at Amazon Web Services (AWS) in building the foundation of global scale compute platforms in Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2). Based out of the Amazon Development Center, Bucharest, we work on global-scale compute platforms, with special focus on trusted compute, serverless & container virtualization technologies and server fleet tooling for AWS EC2.
  
  We are looking for a new teammate who is enthusiastic, curious, empathic, motivated and reliable, with a good sense of ownership and a drive to innovate. You will be joining our team working on server fleet tooling and services, creating building blocks that power AWS. You will participate in the full development cycle from design and implementation to deployment and operations. This is an exciting opportunity for you to create new products and distributed services, and to innovate as part of a vibrant and fast-growing company (where each team feels like a start-up)!
  
  Your main goal will be to create long-term customer value. You will: work to understand our customers' needs and engineer new features to meet them; own and automate operations; contribute new ideas and methods to continuously improve quality and development efficiency; and innovate in the area of scalable systems. This position involves on-call responsibilities. This is typically done once every 6 weeks. We strive to keep this down and ensure our systems are fault tolerant.   Basic Qualifications
  
  • Degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
  • Skilled in at least two of C++, Bash, Python or Java.
  • Good understanding of Linux fundamentals and experience developing in a Linux environment.
    
  Preferred Qualifications
  
  • 2+ years of experience focused in the area of systems programming, for example with Linux, C++, Python or Java.
  • Experience with Linux package management, version control systems, automated build processes and software unit testing.
  • Expertise in OO Design and at least one OO language such as Java or C++.
  • Experience developing or deploying highly scalable application.
  • Experience with distributed systems architecture and related technologies.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment where engineers are owners.
