We are Global Transportation Technology team! Amazon's global fulfilment is one of the most sophisticated, large scale transportation and logistics networks in the world. Our team helps in scaling the transportation network planning decisions, and automates capacity requirements at multiple nodes in the delivery cycle. The ideal candidate will be passionate about partnering in a team that drives next generation extremely large, scalable and fast distributed systems on AWS stack.

You will lead and coordinate design/implementation efforts, coordinating across multiple teams within amazon to develop optimal solutions. You will establish planning mechanisms to deliver on your roadmap, demonstrate strong operational excellence and maintain a high code quality bar. You will be expected to deep dive into complex business use cases and system dependencies and work backwards from the customer to propose solutions that solve business and customer needs.

SDE-1s provide technical leadership at Amazon. They help establish technical standards and drive Amazon’s overall technical architecture, engineering practices, and methodologies. They think globally when building systems, ensuring Amazon builds high performing, scalable systems that work well together. They are hands on, producing both detailed technical work and high-level designs.

  • Working with customers and product managers to define customer requirements
  • Functionally decompose complex problems into simple, straight-forward solutions.
  • Design new systems and extensions to existing systems
  • Develop new services, features, and workflows
  • Participate in design reviews and consult with engineering peers
  • Deploy and operate software services to drive business operations
  • Mentor, coach, and develop junior engineers' skillsets

Basic Qualifications

Bachelors in Computer Science, or Engineering.

  • Bachelors in Computer Science or Equivalent
  • 1-3 years professional development experience
  • Curious, self-motivated & a self-starter with a ‘can do attitude’.
  • Comfortable working in fast paced dynamic environment.
  • Proficient in writing performant SQL working with large data volumes; ability to understand and action query plans
  • Proficiency in Java, git, and related toolsets
  • Proficiency in TypeScript, Angular and related toolsets
  • Knowledge or experience in distributed systems
  • Object oriented software design experience
  • Exposure to AWS stack/cloud computing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters or PhD in Computer Science
  • Experience in Supply Chain or Delivery Logistics
  • Deep experience in distributed systems / SOA design
  • Experience and comfort with Agile Scrum
  • Experience with AWS using S3, EC2, Redshift, Aurora, Lambda, QuickSight, etc.
  • Ability to handle multiple, competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Work well in teams, respecting ideas from teammates, business partners, and technical experts
