Job Summary

DESCRIPTION

We are building security systems at operate at scale. At Amazon Web Services, we like to "work backwards": start by understanding what customers need and using that to guide our software engineering. We're looking for software engineers passionate and experienced in listening to customers, synthesizing their needs, and rapidly iterating our services to quickly put features into customers' hands. Our best ideas become even better when we get feedback from real customer use. The sooner we can get that feedback, the more quickly we can grow.

AWS Security is looking for Software Development Engineer to build systems that can ensure security of all of our services. We are building testing and detection that will scale automatically.

Amazon has a fast-paced environment where we "Work Hard, Have Fun, Make History." On a "typical" day, software engineers might whip up a prototype to prove or disprove an idea, instrument code to report a new metric, talk with customers, code up a feature, or draft a proposal for a radical new idea.

Our team also puts a high value on work-life balance. Striking a healthy balance between your personal and professional life is crucial to your happiness and success here, which is why we aren't focused on how many hours you spend at work or online. Instead, we're happy to offer a flexible schedule so you can have a more productive and well-balanced life-both in and outside of work.

Our team is dedicated to supporting new members. We have a broad mix of experience levels and tenures, and we're building an environment that celebrates knowledge sharing and mentorship. We care about your career growth and strive to assign projects based on what will help each team member develop into a better-rounded engineer and enable them to take on more complex tasks in the future.

Here at AWS, we embrace our differences. We are committed to furthering our culture of inclusion. We have ten employee-led affinity groups, reaching 40,000 employees in over 190 chapters globally. We have innovative benefit offerings, and we host annual and ongoing learning experiences, including our Conversations on Race and Ethnicity (CORE) and AmazeCon (gender diversity) conferences. Amazon's culture of inclusion is reinforced within our 14 Leadership Principles, which remind team members to seek diverse perspectives, learn and be curious, and earn trust.

  • We understand the importance of flexibility and don't want where you are to be a barrier. We want most of our people close enough to their core team that they can easily travel to the office for a meeting within a day's notice. Our primary locations include Seattle, WA; Portland, OR; San Jose, CA; San Luis Obispo, CA; Santa Monica, CA; Chicago, IL; Dallas, TX; Austin, TX; Atlanta, GA; Herndon, VA; Arlington, VA; Annapolis Junction, MD; New York, NY; and Boston, MA.

Additional locations that will be considered include Phoenix, AZ; Tempe, AZ; Meridian, ID; Winchester, KY; Detroit, MI; Minneapolis, MN; Las Vegas, NV; Jersey City, NJ; Pittsburgh, PA; Charleston, SC; Nashville, TN; Huntington, WV; and Madison, WI.
