Location: Hertfordshire With Flexible Remote Working Arrangements

Salary Range: £28,226 Per Annum Up To £35,336 Per Annum( Depending On Experience ) Plus £3000 Annual Market Forces Payment And One Off £3000 Welcome Payment

Hours: 37 Per Week

The Role

As A Member Of Our Lead Local Flood Authority (Llfa), You Will Aim To Ensure That Proposed Developments Have Incorporated Suitable Surface Water Drainage Measures, So That Any Surface Water Has The Chance To Infiltrate Rather Than Just Runoff , Without Presenting A Flood Risk.

Providing Expert Guidance To Local Planning Authorities, We Will Expect You To Assess Small And Large Planning Applications (Ranging From A Few Houses Through Whole New Settlements, Schools And Business Developments), With Your Recommendations Informing Whether Or Not An Application Can Be Approved.

With The Chance To Develop Your Skills From Day One, We Will Provide You With Plenty Of Training And Support As You Get To Grips With The Role And Secure Your Degree Level Relevant Qualifications, If You Don't Already Have Them, So You Will Be Ready To Maintain An Up-to-date Knowledge Of The Relevant Legislation And Policy Changes Relating To Surface Water Drainage.

The Skills You Will Need To Thrive In This Role.

First And Foremost, You Will Be Capable Of Managing A Demanding Workload. With The Support Of Colleagues, You May Represent Us At Public Inquiries, You Will Have The Capacity To Work With Everyone From Members Of The Public Through To Developers And Elected Members , So Great Communication Skills Are Essential.

You Will Also Have The Ability To Handle Pressure And The Confidence To Stand By Your Decisions, As While We Want To Help The County Thrive And Develop, We Must Never Lose Sight Of Our Professional Standards That Ultimately Ensure The Creation Of Great Quality Developments.

From A Practical Point Of View, You Will Ideally Have A Water-related Qualification With Experience In Water And Drainage Assessment, Though A Broadly Relevant Degree In A Scientific Or Geographic Field Would Also Be Considered.
